Kate Garry Hudson is an American actress. She was born on April 19, 1979 in Los Angeles and is the daughter of famous Academy Award winning actress Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, a 70s TV comedian and musician. After her parents divorced when she was just 18 months old, Kate was raised by her mother and her mother's long time companion, another famous Hollywood actor, Kurt Russell. She has a brother Oliver Hudson, who is also an actor, as well as three half-siblings, two from her father's second marriage and a half-brother from her mother's relationship with Kurt Russell.

Hudson graduated from Crossroads, an exclusive college preparatory school in Santa Monica. She was accepted to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts but instead chose to defer from school in order to focus on her acting career.

Although she had previously been in several motion pictures such as "Desert Blue" (1998), also starring Christina Ricci and Casey Affleck, "200 Cigarettes" (1999), "Gossip" (2000), her real break came with her role in Cameron Crowe's "Almost Famous" (2000), which she received a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Since then she has starred in more than a dozen films, usually of the romantic comedy genre.

Hudson married Chris Robinson, the lead singer of The Black Crowes on December 31, 2000 in Aspen, Colorado, only to separate in August 2006. Their divorce was finalized in October 2007,a year after Hudson filed for it. They have a son Ryder Russel Robinson who was born in August 2006. Since her split with Robinson, she has been involved with Owen Wilson, who supposedly tried to commit suicide after she had left him, and New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. Neither of these relationships lasted.
